Ghana international, Joseph Paintsil was in action for KRC Genk on Wednesday night when the team locked horns with RSC Anderlecht in the Belgian Cup.

In what ensued as a very tough match, neither side could score as the 90 minutes ended goalless.

Eventually, in the first half of extra time, the game had a winner when Joseph Paintsil scored with a powerful effort.

Speaking after the game, the Ghana forward admitted that Anderlecht made things very difficult for Genk.

"They gave us a really hard time. We knew that we were going to play against a different Anderlecht than in November. In the first half they secured us well. But we knew that there was room in the backs of the two central defenders,” the Black Stars attacker said.

Joseph Paintsil added, "With Samatta there, we went for the long ball on Heynen and he then tried to play through. That worked out wonderfully. Samatta was indeed offside, but I shouted that I was coming and that he had to stay off the ball."

Courtesy of the narrow win against Anderlecht, Genk are now through to the quarter-final stage of the Belgian Cup.
