Ghana's Antoine Semenyo made his debut for Bournemouth in their 1-0 defeat to Brighton on Saturday at the Amex Stadium.

Brighton started fairly brightly and Tariq Lamptey's whipped cross from the right was grabbed by Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto.

The Cherries won a corner as pressure forced Lamptey to touch the ball behind. Traorè toke it and whipped a dangerous ball towards the near post but Mepham's shot hits the side netting.

Bournemouth's penalty shout was waved off by the referee in the 25th minute and VAR agreed with him.

After halftime, Welbeck's chance in Bournemouth's box went off the bar.

The visitors had a chance in the 68th minute, the Cherries attack on the counter attack through Semenyo, he weaved through two players and drove all the way to the penalty area. The pass to Ouattara wasn't good so he shoots but a good last-ditch challenge deflects the ball behind.

The hosts found the breakthrough in the 87th minute, Kaoru Mitoma headed home. Goalkeeper Neto did his best to claw the ball away but couldnt prevent it from crossing the line.
