Ghana coach, Chris Hughton says he hopes the players who were ruled out against Madagascar due to injury will make a return against the Central African Republic in their final round of games.

In the matchday five games of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, Inaki Williams, Alexander Djiku, and Gideon Mensah were ruled out of the game against Madagascar due to various degrees of injuries.

However, the Black Stars failed to secure qualification for the AFCON after a goalless drawn game against the Barea on Sunday at the Mahamasina Municipal Stadium on Sunday.

Ahead of their final game against CAR on September 4, Hughton says he is counting on those players to make a return o the squad for the game.

"Our strategy for the next match is to win. We are playing at home. We know we have to get the result and obviously, it’s a game we know the consequences if we don’t win. From here, we have a break," he told Ghana FA website after the game.

"The players will have to go back to their clubs and they will start preseason and we will be ready for the game in September. We have some players missing today so hopefully, those players will be available in September.

"We will be going into another difficult game against Central African Republic and we have to win," he added.

The Black Stars will host the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium.
