Ghanaian footballer, Christian Atsu, who tragically lost his life in the recent earthquake in Turkey, will have his one week observation on March 4, 2023, at the Adjiringanor Astro-Turf.
After meeting with the Twasam family on Friday, Mustapha Ussif, the minister of sports, and representatives of the Ghana Football Association made the decision.
The specifics of the planned commemoration were revealed in an interview with Citi News by a representative for the family, Robert Ani. "It’s been agreed that on 4th March, the One Week Observation will be held at the Adjiringanor Astro-Turf," said Ani.
Ani also stated that a date for the funeral is yet to be set, as the family is still in consultation with relevant stakeholders. "We are yet to decide a date for the funeral itself because we are still in consultation with the relevant stakeholders," he said.
Christian Atsu's body was returned home to Accra on February 19, and the state has promised to ensure he is given a befitting burial.
