Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu who tragically died in Turkey because of the earthquake that hit Turkey almost two weeks ago, will be brought to Ghana today, February 19.

Atsu's body was found in the wreckage of an 11-storey building that had collapsed during the earthquake.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration issued a statement confirming that Atsu's remains, accompanied by his family and Ghana's Ambassador to Turkey, will arrive in Ghana at around 7pm on a Turkish Airlines flight.

The statement also noted that Atsu's remains will be received at the Kotoka International Airport by his family, the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and the government upon arrival from Istanbul.

The return of Atsu's body to Ghana will give his family, friends, and fans the opportunity to mourn and pay their last respects to him.
