The Accra Sports Stadium has been left in total darkness this evening following the disconnection of power to the state-owned facility by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
The power distributor has been left with no choice but to disconnect the stadium following the inability of the National Sports Authority (NSA) to settle a debt of GHS390,000.
It can be recalled that earlier this year, a similar disconnection happened when the ECG decided to go hard on institutions plunging the company to the ground due to refusal to pay what they owed.
According to information gathered from sources, ECG went after the NSA on Tuesday, November 1, to demand payment of the debt.
While the NSA managed to pay GHS30,000, the ECG deemed it insufficient.
As a result, the power distributor has not been moved to make a consideration to restore power to the Accra Sports Stadium.
