Egyptian giants, Al Ahly, have knocked out the Ghanaian duo of David Abagna and Ibrahim Imoro from the 2022/23 CAF Champions League. This happened after Al Ahly's impressive 3-0 victory over their opponent, Al Hilal Omdurman, on Saturday in Sudan.

Former Kotoko defender Imoro played the full 90 minutes for Al Hilal, but his compatriot Abagna was not included in the matchday squad.

Imoro has been a consistent performer for his side, featuring in all six of Al Hilal's CAF Champions League group stage games. Meanwhile, Abagna appeared in four games, scoring one goal.

Al Ahly, ten-time champions of the competition, started the game brightly and came close to scoring in the opening minutes through their forward, Mahmoud Kahraba. However, it wasn't until the 25th minute that Kahraba found the back of the net with a brilliant solo effort to put Al Ahly in the lead.

The home team continued their momentum in the second half and dominated the game, with substitute Hussein El-Shahat scoring a brace in the 57th and 81st minutes to secure a comfortable win for Al Ahly.

This victory ensured that Al Ahly finished second in Group B on goal difference with 10 points and progressed to the quarterfinals of the competition. Meanwhile, Al Hilal also had 10 points, but their inferior goal difference meant they were eliminated from the tournament.
