Former Accra Heart of Oak player Amankwah Mireku has slammed outgoing captain Fatawu Mohammed for his comments on Daniel Afriyie Barnieh's contract situation.
Barnieh has failed to extend his contract with the Phobians after it expired on December 17.
Speaking in an interview with Sports Obama TV, Fatawu Mohammed, who played with Afriyie Barnieh at the Accra-based club, stated that God will never forgive him if he ever advises his teammate to stay with the club.
"I will not advise Afriyie to stay at Hearts of Oak. God will even punish me for that, Afriyie is my son but I will not advise him to stay God will not even forgive me," Fatawu Mohammed told Sports Obama TV on Youtube.
Reacting to Fatawu's comments Amankwah Mireku described his statement as unfortunate.
"I don't know why Fatawu said that, you saying that God will never forgive you if you ever advises Barnieh to stay with the club. Please Afriyie Barnieh are you the one who gave birth to him. Are you the one who brought him to Hearts of Oak, do you know how he came to Hearts of Oak?. I have always been saying this it looks like Hearts of Oak I don't know who does our player recruitment and player signings I don't know them," he told Peace FM as monitored by footballghana.com
"It is very unfortunate that they are not doing their work well. Who was supposed to make sure that Afriyie Barnieh's contract should be renewed how should that happen. For almost a decade now we have had players from nowhere players that excuse me to say if they were gifted to Hearts they will not like them. From nowhere they had the biggest platform in Ghana and by the grace of God they are now well known then the team that helped him is not bigger than him, the team hasn't than anything for him and the team is nothing,"
"In our time if we were in the national camp some of our colleagues tell us if I had the opportunity I will play for Hearts please help me get a chance. But today player can come and play for Hearts then quits then the same player expects Hearts to beg him it is very unfortunate. A team that players want to play a team that has produces players like Polo, Adolf Amarh, Offei Ansah, Amankwah Mireku and they have all retired and the team still stands and a player can makes these statements it is very painful and unfortunate,"
