Former Ghana trainer Avram Grant has reacted after landing Zambia national team coaching job.

Grant was unveiled on Thursday by the Football Association of Zambia and is expected to lead the Chipolopolo in the next two-years.

The former Chelsea trainer penned a two-year contract with an option for another year, and faces a daunted task to qualify the Chipolopolo to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Speaking after his unveiling, Grant said, "I'm very happy to be here. I think Zambia has potential,"

Meanwhile, the Zambia FA boss Andrew Kamanga is confident the former Chelsea gaffer can steer the Chipolopolo to greatness.

"We will be back among the elite of the African game" he said.

Grant replaces Croatian gaffer Aljosa Asanovic who resigned in September 2022 after just nine months.

The former Portsmouth boss handled the Ghana national team in his previous job in Africa from December 2014 to February 2017, where he guided the Black Stars to the finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

He also led the Black Stars to the semi-finals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, losing to eventual winners Cameroon.

During his spell as the manager of English giants Chelsea, Grant guided the London club to the final of the UEFA Champions League in 2008, where they lost to Manchester United on penalty shootouts.
