Ghana came from a goal down to beat the Central African Republic 2-1 at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday to seal qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ernest Nuamah scored the winner late in coming from the bench after Mohammed Kudus scored the equalizer late in the first half.

CAR took the lead through Louis Mafouta to shock Ghana.

Here’s how we rated each Black Stars player:

Lawrence Ati-Zigi - 4

When it mattered most, he mistimed his run and allowed CAR to round him and score their goal but also delivered a brilliant save from a long shot that could have been dangerous.

Alidu Seidu - 6

He was one of Ghana’s best players in the game and covered the right side of Ghana’s defence well.

Baba Rahman - 3

Was exposed at the left back position and also often overloaded, with CAR passing through his side in their attacks.

Joseph Aidoo - 3.5

CAR were easily able to find passes at Ghana’s backline and caught them on the break on a number of occasions.

Alexander Djiku - 3.5

Like Aidoo, the two didn’t coordinate well enough to limit how they were easily cut open.

Salis Abdul Samed - 4

The first time he’s partnering Elisha for Ghana at the Black Stars, the two left too much space between them and the forward players and were sometimes dominated by CAR.

Elisha Owusu - 4

Lacked the ability to connect the defenders and the forwards, just like Salis.

Osman Bukari - 4

Was decent in taking on defenders but his decision-making was poor, hence no final product, but importantly won the free kick that led to Ghana’s equaliser.

Jordan Ayew - 4.5

Was a bright spot for Ghana in the attack but was not as effective as he should have been going forward, providing no cross and attempted only one shot.

Inaki Williams - 3

Was left isolated and couldn’t create a connection with the three players behind him and sometimes didn’t make the necessary runs.

Mohammed Kudus - 7

Ghana’s best player from the match. Curling in the equalizer and made some brilliant carries from Ghana’s half to the opposition third and was a live wire throughout the game.

Substitutes

Antoine Semenyo - 6

Brilliant hold-up play and linked up well with the midfield and created the winning goal by putting the ball on the plate for Ernest Nuamah to score the winner.

Ernest Nuamah - 6

A constant threat since coming on and had the easiest of tasks to tap in the winner late in the game.

Gideon Mensah - 4

Was okay since replacing Baba Rahman and was not called upon as much as Baba was exploited.

Baba Iddrisu - N/A
