The Black Stars wrapped up the September international break with a 3-1 win over Liberia in an international friendly at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Ernest Nuamah scored the opening goal and assisted Mohammed Kudus to score the second before Jordan Ayew added the third in the 82nd minute.
The Lone Stars scored the consolation through Divine Roosevelt Teah in the 90th minute.
Here are five things we learned from the game.
Perfect back-three
The back three Ghana started the game with worked perfectly for Chris Hughton, a system many thought he would have deployed more often looking at the players at his disposal.
Nicholas Opoku was particularly a standout performer alongside Alexander Djiku and Joseph Aidoo.
Good individual performances
A lot of “fringe” players showed brilliant performances in the game for Ghana as they were thought not to be worthy of call-ups because they were not involved at the club side.
Edmund Addo is one of the players who put in great individual performances in this game, very clean alongside Baba Iddrisu despite not playing a single minute for Red Star Belgrade this season.
Nicholas Opoku was also one of the players not always in the spotlight but had a good game.
Promise from GPL players
The Medeama SC duo in the team, Fatawu Hamidu and Jonathan Sowah showed that Ghana Premier League players can make a mark with the Black Stars.
Hamidu started the game and was not as flowery but never looked lost as he was able to cover his area as well as put in some decent passes and combinations.
Sowah, a late substitute, made the cutback that led to Ghana’s third goal after receiving a pass from his Medeama teammate, Hamidu.
Jordan Ayew records
Jordan Ayew became Ghana’s fourth outright most-capped player when he came off the bench to make his 92nd appearance - overtaking John Paintsil.
He also overtook his father in terms of goals scored, taking his tally to 20 goals while his father has 19 games.
Chris Hughton has options
Chris Hughton made nine changes to his starting lineup that won 2-1 against the Central African Republic last Thursday and it still looked like a first-choice team.
The players available to him meant he could also change systems, like the three-back system and moving Mohammed Kudus to an out-and-out right winger.
