The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has provided an update on former Black Stars winger Christian Atsu, who was trapped in the rubble after massive earthquake in Turkey.
Atsu was reportedly trapped in rubble after he was caught up in the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that hit southern Turkey on Monday.
Atsu who plays for Turkish Süper Lig club Hatayspor was in action on Sunday, scoring a late goal to secure a 1-0 win over Kasimpasa.
“We've received some positive news that Christian Atsu has been successfully rescued from the rubble of the collapsed building and is receiving treatment. Let’s continue to pray for Christian” a statement from the FA reads.
The Ghana international was trapped under debris after the earthquake and was located after extensive search efforts.
Atsu joined Hatayspor in September after parting ways with Al Raed in Saudi Arabia.
He scored his debut goal for the club on Sunday, hours before the disaster.
