The Ghana Football Association are set to name former Premier League coach Chris Hughton as new head coach of the Black Stars, Footballghana.com can report.

The Black Stars is currently without a substantive trainer following the resignation of Otto Addo after the 2022 World Cup.

The Germany-based coach relinquished his role to continue his job as the talent development coach for giants Borussia Dortmund.

Footballghana.com has learnt the Ghana FA has settled on the former Brighton manager and will by close of this week name him as the new Black Stars coach subject to clearance from the government.

Hughton worked with the national team as technical advisor during the World Cup playoff against Nigeria and was part of the team at the tournament in Qatar.

The Black Stars will return to action in March for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with Hughton expected to take charge of the national team for the first time next month.

The Black Stars of Ghana will host Angola in their third group game at the Cape Coast Stadium in March.

Ghana top Group E with 4 points after two matches into the qualifiers.

Meanwhile, George Boateng and Didi Dramani will maintained their roles as the assistants’ coaches of the four-time African champions.

The pair served as an assistants’ coaches under Otto Addo and were part of the technical team for the World Cup.
