After hours of search, former Black Stars winger Christian Atsu has been found alive following reports of being trapped in the wake of the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey on Monday.
According to the club’s spokesperson, Mustafa Özat, the Ghana star has been pulled out of the rubble and has been taken to the hospital for treatment after suffering injuries.
"Christian Atsu has been removed injured. Unfortunately, our sports director Taner Savut is still under the wreckage. We are coming towards the end of the most dangerous hours," said the club’s press relations spokesperson Mustafa Ozat.
He added, "I just had another meeting. Christian Atsu was taken to hospital with injuries."
The Ghana international was trapped under debris after the earthquake and was located after extensive search efforts.
Atsu who plays for Turkish Süper Lig club Hatayspor was in action on Sunday, scoring a late goal to secure a 1-0 win over Kasimpasa.
The winger joined Hatayspor in September after parting ways with Al Raed in Saudi Arabia.
