Los Angeles FC emerged victorious in a thrilling 3-2 win over Portland Timbers at BMO Stadium, with Kwadwo Opoku scoring the third goal that secured the victory for LAFC.

The 21-year-old Ghanaian was the standout player of the match, making 47 touches, completing 13 of his 16 passes, winning 11 ground duels, being fouled 5 times and recovering the ball 4 times.

He also won 3 of his 4 tackles, successfully dribbling twice, and winning a penalty that led to Vela's goal. This was Opoku's first goal of the 2023 MLS season.

Giorgio Chiellini scored the opening goal for LAFC in the 24th minute, followed by Carlos Vela's goal in the 34th minute from the spot, before Opoku sealed the deal in the 52nd minute.

Although Portland Timbers tried to mount a comeback, their goals from Evandro Ferreira in the 62nd minute and Cristhian Paredes in the 84th minute were not enough to secure a draw or a win.

This win marks a crucial victory for LAFC, who currently sit at the 4th spot in the MLS Western Conference standings.
