Dennis Appiah says he is ready to help Saint-Étienne who are currently struggling in Ligue 2 return to winning ways. Saint-Étienne was relegated from the French top flight last season.

The Greens are bottom of the 2022/23 French Ligue 2 table with 12 points after 17 games.

Dennis Appiah joined Saint-Étienne from Ligue 1 side Nantes until 2025. The club made the announcement on Tuesday 3rd January 2023.

The former French youth international first trained at AS Monaco, the native of Toulouse is the captain of the Monegasque generation that won the 2011 Gambardella Cup against the Greens of Idriss Saadi, beaten on penalties.

Promoted to the Principality's first team, he played 27 games with his training club, most of them in Ligue 2 BKT.

The defender passed all his medical examinations. He will be eligible for the next ASSE encounter on January 10 against Laval.

"I'm coming to a team that knows how to play football, that's not the problem. But it needs more aggressiveness to get out of this disaster linked to the club's recent relegation," Appiah said after signing his contract.

"I'm here to bring what I know how to do, while bringing my experience so that we can all get out of this difficult situation together ,"
