Former Hearts of Oak legend, Dan Quaye, believes that when two powerhouses of Ghanaian football, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, perform at their best, it not only elevates their own status but also injects a surge of excitement in the country.
Quaye's comments come as anticipation builds for the official kick off of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
Last season the Phobians ended the season in 12th place with 46 points and the Porcupine Warriors placed 4th with 52 points.
“If Hearts of Oak and Kotoko are doing well, it generates excitement in the country. Both teams have recruited very well, which shows they mean business about winning the league," he said.
"When was the last they reached the money zone of the Champions League? Previously, we could reach that stage," he added.
Hearts of Oak will kick off the season with an away fixture against Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Friday while Kotoko takes on Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
