The President of CAF, Dr. Patrice Motsepe has noted that he is unhappy that South Africa could not qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Bafana Bafana were in the same group as Ghana in the group stage of the African qualifiers.
Following a final group defeat to Ghana, South Africa could not advance to the playoff round.
Speaking to Farpost in an interview, Dr. Patrice Motsepe noted that South Africa has good players and should be qualifying for the world cup.
“I have a duty to the rest of the continent, and I am a South African, and I’m grateful to this country. It’s made me what I am. “It makes me very sad because we should be there, we can be there, and we will be there. This country has the most talented football players, boys and girls,” Dr. Patrice Motsepe said.
The CAF president added, “Sometimes the real progress is not talking and responding as I do now, but it’s in private meetings, private discussions, and confidential meetings with a clear focus that South African football deserves to be among the best in the world and will be among the best on the world.”
At the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Africa was represented by five countries including Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, Tunisia, and Morocco.
