Former Ghana defender John Paintsil has emphasized the critical factors of thorough preparations, well-organized arrangements, and a fierce determination as imperative for the Black Stars' success in the upcoming AFCON.
Paintsil noted that many nations have elevated their footballing standards due to the evolving nature of the sport.
He pointed out that the Black Stars can take pride in having exceptional players competing for prominent European clubs.
Speaking on GhanaWeb's Sports Check program, Paintsil acknowledged that clinching the AFCON title is a formidable challenge.
However, he maintained an optimistic outlook, asserting that Ghana has the potential to break the 41-year trophy drought if players are mentally and physically prepared.
"Football is dynamic and a lot of countries have picked up. It comes down to preparations, arrangement, and how much you want it. We have a fantastic team of players playing for big teams in Europe. The Boys are pushing and with time they will win trophies for us," Paintsil affirmed.
The Black Stars of Ghana confirmed their qualification for the 2023 AFCON, slated to be hosted in Ivory Coast in 2024.
This was sealed with a dramatic 2-1 victory over the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, September 7.
