Kenya will attempt to bid to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with other countries in East Africa.
Per a statement from the Presidential Office sighted by Footballghana.com, it is said the intention of Kenya is to build a national team that can qualify for the 2030 World Cup. Kenya have never qualified for a World Cup.
This come following FIFA’s decision to lift a suspension imposed on the Football Kenya Federation in February.
"The Council of Ministers noted that the organization of the cup in cooperation will show the power of sports in improving regional cooperation,” the statement said.
Kenya will hope to win the bid to host the 2027 AFCON tournament but they must beat competition from other countries who are keen about the hosting right.
Meanwhile, the Confederation is yet to announce host country for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after stripping of Gambia months ago.
