Ghana Premier League side, Kotoku Royals have announced that assistant coach Akakpo Patron has been elevated to the position of interim head coach.
The decision has been taken following the sacking of head coach Seth Ablade ahead of the resumption of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.
“Kotoku Royals Football Club have relieved Seth Ablade from official duties as head coach. The club would like to thank coach and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.
“Assistant coach Raphael Akakpo Patron will take temporary charge as first team coach until a new coach is appointed,” an official club statement from Kotoku Royals said on Monday, December 12.
Before the Ghana Premier League was put on hold for the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Kotoko Royals had lost all five previous matches in the division.
Courtesy of that poor run, the club is now rooted at the bottom of the Ghana Premier League standings.
The club needs to get a top manager to turn things around as a matter of urgency to avoid relegation.
Meanwhile, the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to resume on December 19.
