The head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, Gerardo Seoane has praised Dutch defender of Ghanaian descent, Jeremie Frimpong for his fantastic performance in the game against Athletico Madrid.

The former Celtic defender climbed off the bench on Tuesday to provide the assists for two goals that propelled the German Bundesliga club to see off the team from Spain.

Speaking after the game, coach Gerardo Seoane praised Jeremie Frimpong for his performance.

The gaffer said, "Jerry {Frimpong] repeatedly pushed deep with his speed. He also implemented the switch between five-man and four-man backline well."

The coach further praised the performance of his entire Bayer Leverkusen matchday squad for getting the job done.

"The decisive factor was the energy level in the team. This connection between the players makes the difference. There was [also] an energy in the stadium today that will hopefully carry us even further in the coming days,” the gaffer added.
