A former Dutch football player, Rafael van der Vaart, has expressed his disagreement with the choices made by former coach Alfred Schreuder.
Van der Vaart specifically mentioned the omission of Mohammed Kudus from the starting lineup frequently despite his impressive performances at the 2022 World Cup.
The former Real Madrid player believed that Kudus, who currently plays on the right, should have complete freedom to play and credited current coach Heitinga for providing that opportunity.
“I thought: ‘You saw how he played at the World Cup, right?’ Then he comes back and you don't have him in the starting XI," he told Studio Voetbal.
"He can play anywhere. That is often also the problem, because then you will be abused. The way he plays now, on the right, he must have complete freedom. He gets that from Heitinga and now he can play wonderfully,” he added.
