Ghana star Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has asked football fans to say a word of prayer for the people of Turkey and Syria who were hit by the deadly earthquakes a week ago.
The death toll from the aftermath of the misfortune now stands at over 35,000 with several others injured.
The 26-year-old midfielder who ruptured his ligament and will miss the rest of the Bundesliga season for SC Freiburg shared this message in an Instagram post thanking teammates and fans for their support.
His Freiburg teammates sympathized with him by celebrating their win over Stuttgart on Saturday.
"Thank you all for your compassion and your numerous recovery wishes that have reached me in all possible ways. I ask all of you who thought of me and prayed for me to say a prayer for the people affected by the misfortune in Turkey and Syria," he said.
"Because if it helps me and gives me strength, it will help others too!
"You don't have to worry about me, I won't let it drag me down let alone stop me from pursuing my dreams and goals. I'll be putting a smile on your face soon on and off the court.
"And remember health, togetherness and being there for each other is what makes us all strong and happy together
"On that note, thank you & see you soon, your Kofi."
