US-based Non-Governmental Organization, Soccer for Dreamers has returned to Ghana to contribute to the development of football in the country once again.

The organization has assured that it is committed to the development of football in Ghana.

Through its partnership with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Soccer for Dreamers has donated football gear to female Division One clubs that are competing in the Women's Regional Championship at Kyebi.

Items donated to the teams include boots, gloves, balls, menstrual cups, shin guards, bags, jerseys, and many others.

At an event to make the donation, Madam Sylvia Akwaboah, President of Soccer for Dreamers indicated that her outfit is pleased with another opportunity to impact lives through football.

She noted that Soccer for Dreamers is not only in Ghana to support the men's game but wants to support women as well.

"Our dream is not to help only the men, but the women as well. We want to build the popularity of women's football in Ghana and hopefully one day we will see some of you at the World Cup," Madam Sylvia Akwaboah stressed.

She said the group is committed to extending support not only in Accra but also outside the capital.

As part of its efforts to help in the development of female footballers, Soccer for Dreamers has launched a flagship programme, dubbed the "UBUNTU online academy" to give footballers a better life after their careers.

The platform would provide training on how to get into employment and also help with entrepreneurship abilities.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Eastern Regional Football Association, Mr. Linford Asamoah expressed his excitement about the support Soccer for Dreamers is giving to female footballers in Ghana.

"I believe strongly that what the organization has done is a great initiative for the development of football," he indicated.

Mr. Asamoah further emphasised that he is optimistic that the support of Soccer for Dreamers will go a long way to help develop grassroots football as well.

On his part, footballer and co-founder of Soccer for Dreamers, Mr. Jed Akwaboah explained why his outfit decided to make the latest donation in the Eastern Region.

"After going to Accra last year, I thought it was important for us to come to a different region to donate boots and different types of football gear. So it was a great success today,” he explained.

The teams that benefited from the latest donation by Soccer for Dreamers include Kotoku Rush Ladies, Anlo Ladies, FC Epiphany, Sea Lions FC, Jonina Ladies FC, and Hassport Ladies FC.
