In a bold assertion, Micky Charles, the President of Techiman City Football Club, has declared the activities of the GFA Vetting Committee are null and void.
Charles contends that the committee's constitution was flawed, rendering its decisions invalid. He also stated that there is nothing like the vetting committee of the GFA and the Elections committee are the same people doing the vetting.
Micky Charles claims he called some people who went before the vetting committee and they told him that there were three men and three women which is six.
This pronouncement injects a significant dose of contention into the proceedings, casting a spotlight on the process of vetting candidates for the 2023 GFA Elections.
Charles' claims, if substantiated, could potentially have far-reaching ramifications for the Ghana Football Association and its governance structure.
"If you read our statute it is clear on elections committee article 54. It says the elections committee is the body in charge of organizing and supervising the elections process in accordance with the provisions of this statute and the elections regulation of the GFA. The elections committee charge be made up of five members. It is shall be made up of five members including at least one woman and a lawyer who shall be chairperson," he told Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com
"When you go into our regulation it is clear it says the compositions the elections committee shall be composed as follows a chairperson, a vice chairperson, three ordinary members and an appropriate number of substitutes shall also be appointed by the congress of the GFA. The elections shall appoint a secretary from amongst its members who shall be responsible for the related logistical matters and who shall take care of administrative matters," he added.
