The Matildas have been dealt a major blow ahead of their Women's World Cup opener against the Republic of Ireland, with captain Sam Kerr unavailable through injury.
 
According to a news report, Sam Kerr will not be playing the first two matches because of injury, however, she is expected to be back when Australia takes Canada in the group match. Sam Kerr is not only the most successful women's footballer for Australia but has the most goals to her credit among all footballers in Australia. She is also one of the highest paid women footballer.
