Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly have advanced to the quarterfinal of the CAF Champions League after a convincing 3-0 win over Sudanese side Al Hilal on Saturday.
Al Ahly, who had won the competition a record ten times, started the game on a high note and came close to scoring in the opening minutes of the match through forward Mahmoud Kahraba.
However, it wasn't until the 25th minute that Kahraba found the back of the net with a solo effort, putting Al Ahly in the lead.
The home team carried on with their momentum in the second half and continued their dominance, with Hussein El-Shahat coming on as a substitute and doubling the lead just two minutes later. El-Shahat was then on the scoresheet again in the 81st minute to secure a vital win for his side.
The victory ensured that Al Ahly finished second in Group B on goal difference with 10 points and progressed to the quarterfinal of the competition.
Al Hilal also had 10 points but with an inferior goal difference.
