Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Henry Asante Twum has disclosed that over a thousand applications have been received by his outfit expressing interest in the Black Stars' vacant head coach job.
According to him, in the process to appoint the new coach, the Ghana FA will not focus on race or colour.
He stresses in an interview with GHOne TV that the focus will be on bringing in a competent coach to handle the national team.
"Over 1000 coaches have applied for the job. We keep getting applications each and every day,” Henry Asante Twum shared.
The Ghana FA Communications Director added, "The job is open for all. Once you are a competent coach. We haven’t made any shortlist and at the right time, we will.
“There is pressure to appoint a competent coach. We are not looking at race or color but just a competent coach.”
What we know so far is that Irish-Ghanaian tactician Chris Hughton and former Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah are among the many people that have applied for the vacant job.
