eSports Vs. Sports

Do you consider eSports as a real sport? I am asking this question because the Asian Games that is going to happen later this year in China will include eSports in their tournaments. eSports will be one of the 37 categories for the medal championship. Some of the games that will be played in Asian games are PUBG Mobile, FIFA, League of Legends, Dota 2, etc.

eSports and traditional sports both require skill, strategy, teamwork, and strong mental focus, but they differ in how competition happens. Traditional sports depend more on physical fitness, stamina, and athletic ability, while eSports focus on reaction speed, coordination, communication, and game knowledge. Both industries now attract huge audiences, sponsorships, and professional careers. Stadium crowds support football or cricket, while millions watch eSports online through streaming platforms. Younger audiences especially connect with competitive gaming, but classic sports still have deeper cultural roots worldwide. I’ve seen balanced discussions on sportsplay24 where fans appreciate both forms as serious competition in different ways.
