Former Ghana striker, Joe Debrah says if he had his way he will include Asamoah Gyan in Ghana’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Using Brazil striker Ronaldo as an example, he argues that the name of Asamoah Gyan will scare opponents if he is on the team.
“If I was a coach, Asamoah Gyan would be in the team but Ghanaians will not acknowledge his efforts.
“Brazil’s Ronaldo became fat yet he was called up because his performance was top, even his name scares players. Asamoah Gyan would be the first player to lead the team,” ex-Black Stars attacker Joe Debrah said in an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah.
Asamoah Gyan, 36, last month disclosed that he is working on regaining his fitness to get back in shape to have the chance to merit a place in the Ghana squad for the Qatar tournament.
Despite being Ghana’s all-time leading top scorer with 51 goals, the majority of Ghanaians are not in support of his inclusion in the Black Stars squad for the world cup.
