Ghanaian midfielder, Salis Abdul Samed has opened up on why he rejected a move to Olympique Marseille to join RC Lens during the summer transfer window.
The promising 23 year old has established himself a key figure for the Lens in the ongoing French Ligue 1 season.
Salis after 9 games played as scored just once.
Speaking in an interview, the former Clermont Foot midfielder said he is never in a hurry to join a big club but wants to play for a club where he can develop his playing career.
"Going to Marseille straight away wouldn't have been good for me," he said.
"It's not that I wasn't ready, but I wanted to progress as I wanted. Marseille insisted, but I said well to my agent that I wanted to progress in a certain way.
"I preferred Lens for my career. And here, I have been progressing since my arrival, in my way of breaking the lines, of playing forward, of fixing.
"I have already taken a very small step thanks to the contribution of the coach," he said.
Salis joined Len in a deal worth 5 million euros.
