West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has lauded Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu as one of the most formidable defenders he has come across in the English Premier League (EPL).
Salisu, who transferred to Southampton from Real Valladolid in 2020, has rapidly become one of the finest center-backs in the league, despite the Saint's lackluster performance this season that has seen them lie bottom of the league.
Antonio expressed his admiration for Salisu's playing style during an interview on the West Ham United Footballers' Football Podcast, stating, "Salisu, he is a rash. He is like all over you. He didn't give me an inch. He was all over me."
Although Salisu was absent from Southampton's last match against Chelsea because of a minor injury sustained in training before their trip to Stamford Bridge, his contributions throughout the season have not gone unnoticed.
Salisu, who was one of Ghana's standout players at the World Cup in Qatar last year, has been an indispensable part of the Saints' defense.
"Unfortunately, Sali felt something in training yesterday and cannot be with us today," said Southampton's manager Ruben Selles.
