What an opening day in Birmingham!
Special thanks to European-Athletics.org.
Great performances! The only issue, per Stuart Weir, was the disappointing crowds, just over 12,944 on day 1. Ticket prices were very high, and food prices in the stadium were outrageous!

Jakob Ingebrigtsen played with the field and took out a surprised Jimmy Gressier, who did not medal, near the finish, a 54.94 last 400m, and the race came down to the last 50 meters! First race in 324 days for Ingebrigtsen, who wins his seventh EAC title and 22nd (cross country, indoor and outdoor) for Jakob Ingebrigtsen. Global response was exciting!
