Former Editor of Kotoko Express, Jerome Otchere is backing Chris Hughton to do well if given the mantle to be the head coach of the Ghana national team.

In his view, the former Brighton & Hove Albion manager has what it takes to manage the Black Stars.

He, however, notes that the coach will excel in the role if there is no external influence and he is allowed to make decisions on his own.

"Chris [Hughton] deserves to be the Black Stars coach. He really has what it takes to manage the Black Stars of Ghana if only he will not be influenced and make right decisions on his own without any interference, he can really succeed as Black stars coach,” Jerome Otchere said in an interview with Original FM.

Coach Chris Hughton has been working as a technical advisor of the Black Stars technical team for the last nine months.

He was with the national team in Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Following the exit of Ghana at the end of the Group Stage, Coach Otto Addo has left his role.

Since leaving, Coach Chris Hughton has been tipped by many to take up the vacant role.
