Former Medeama SC defender Vincent Atinga has bid an emotional farewell to the club after his departure was confirmed on Monday.

The former Hearts of Oak talismanic centre-back released a statement to thank the club for his three years in Tarkwa.

He thanked the supporters and management of the club for the reception during his time.

“It's been an amazing journey and I couldn't have asked for a better club, supporters, and management team by my side for all these years,” he wrote in a statement.

“Thank you for the incredible memories and unwavering support.”

The 29-year-old returned to the Ghana Premier League to join Medeama in 2021 after spells abroad, where he featured for KF Tirana in Albania and Kuwaiti clubs Qadsia SC and Al Shabab.

Atinga scored 21 goals in the Ghanaian top-flight across the three seasons he played for Medeama after 74 appearances.

In the 2022-2023 campaign, Atinga scored 11 goals in 28 matches, helping Medeama to win the Ghana Premier League title for the very first time in history.

He was recognized with the prestigious 2022-23 Ghana Premier League Player of the Season accolade for his exceptional contributions last Saturday at an awards ceremony organised by the Ghana Football Association.
