How was something as crazy as SlamBall created? And why did it not last longer during its initial run on TV?

SlamBall was a cool mix of basketball and trampolines, making it super fun! It didn't stay on TV for long because it was different, and maybe not everyone caught on. But those slam dunks were awesome!

SlamBall was a trampoline basketball league created in 1999 by Mason Gordon, combining basketball, football-style contact, and high-flying dunks. It gained major popularity after debuting on Spike TV in 2002, attracting fans with its extreme and fast-paced style. However, the league shut down in 2003 due to financial and broadcasting challenges. SlamBall returned briefly in 2008 but lasted only one season again. After years of inactivity, viral highlights and growing fan interest brought the sport back into discussion. In 2023, SlamBall officially relaunched with new teams and ESPN coverage, marking its biggest comeback. Sportsplay24 is a sports related website covering such updates.
